Microsoft Office Word 2016: Part 1 (Beginner) - Paragraph marks signal the end of a paragraph. You start a new paragraph by pressing Enter. Sometimes you may want to force text to wrap to a new line, but for formatting purposes, you want the line to be treated as though it is part of the same paragraph. You can do this by pressing Shift +Enter to create a "soft return." (Enter vs. Shift-Enter, Paragraph Structure, Text Deletion)
