Recognize the Rainbow: LGBTQIA+ Awareness

Increasing awareness and inclusion of individuals in the LGBTQIA+ community is essential for strengthening health and wellbeing, and ultimately results, in our workplaces. LGBTQIA stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (or questioning), intersex, and asexual. The “+” is a symbol that represents members of the community who identify with a sexual orientation or gender identity that isn’t included within the LGBTQIA acronym. This playlist includes more insights on each of these terms as well as guidance to support LGBTQIA+ inclusivity at work.

Gain a better understanding of the differences between sexual orientation and gender identity, and how to use pronouns that reflect and respect each person’s identity. Learn how to support a colleague who is coming out or transitioning, and the kinds of workplace policies, including gender-neutral restrooms, that increase the wellbeing of LGBTQIA+ employees, along with everyone else.

This collection of micromodules – no course on this playlist is longer than 10 minutes – can be completed in its entirety or explored piecemeal. Only one course is specifically targeted to managers: “LGBTQ in the Workplace: Supporting a Transitioning Employee for Managers.”
