To receive the NYIF official certificate, learners must enroll and pass into their final examination.

PART 1 – Concepts and theories: An introduction

This module is intensive introduction to the complex world of M&A. It provides an invaluable foundation in topics such as strategy, regulation, finding a deal and corporate valuation.

PART 2 – Concepts and theories: Advanced topics

Building on module one, this course dives deeper into advanced M&A topics, including financial accounting, financing the deal, and the all-important understanding of the seller’s viewpoint.

PART 3 – Structuring the deal

PART 4 – Free cash flow modeling

One of the primary functions of a broker-dealer’s M&A desk is advisory services – consulting clients as they seek to grow through M&A. In this course, students will learn to use the Free Cash Flow metric to evaluate acquisition opportunities towards this end.

PART 5 – Accounting for M&A

In this course, you will learn how to apply accounting and federal income tax principles to project earnings and cash flows, specifically of the post-combination entity. PART 6 - Examination

To earn your Professional Certificate in Mergers & Acquisitions from NYIF, you must pass this exam.

The exam is 20 questions and should be completed within one hour. To qualify for the certificate, learners must receive a grade of at least 70% or better.

While anyone may sit for the exam, we recommend that you first complete the above courses in the certificate program.
