- Grape: A fruit which comes from a family of plants called vines. The type of grapes used for making wine are different to the grapes grown for eating – they are smaller, with thicker skins, and less juicy (pictured above – eating grapes top, wine grapes below).
- Vineyard: This is the field where the vines are grown. It can also mean the whole farm that produces the wine, although that is actually also known English as the winery.
- Vintage: Grapes grow on vines once a year. They are then harvested and the wine made. If a wine is made from grapes grown all in one year it is called a vintage, and the bottle label will display the year the grapes were harvested.
