There are several processes that help guide ethical investing, such as screening and shareholder advocacy. Screening is the process of including or excluding securities from an investment portfolio based on certain ethical criteria. It enables the investor to identify companies they wish to support or avoid. Shareholder advocacy (or activism) is the process of using shareholder influence to help bring about positive social and environmental change in corporations.
