The best negotiators learn not only to prepare for every negotiation, but to debrief what has worked and hasn't worked after each negotiation. Preparing means knowing yourself first: your negotiating style, interests, reservation point, issues, and process preferences. Then, research and estimate the same things for the other party or parties involved in the negotiation.
