Workplace health and safety legislation states that organisations have a duty of care and are legally obligated, so far as is reasonably practicable, to provide their workers with a safe and healthy working environment.

Similarly, workers have a duty of care to take reasonable care for their own health and safety and that of any other person who may be affected by what they do or what they fail to do.
