This course provides the all necessary teaching to enable managers and employees to understand their legal duty to report suspicions or allegations of assault or when a resident is missing.

At the end of this course, participants will:

  1. Understand the relevant parts of legislation relating to the duty to report
  2. Understand what the duties of an employee of a residential aged care facility are in respect to reporting sexual assault and unreasonable use of force 
  3. Know when a report must be made in respect to a resident who is absent without explanation
  4. Understand the relevant duties of employers providing residential aged care services
  5. Know how to make a report
  6. Understand the protections provided to people making a report

Business Outcomes

This course will meet requirements to provide training on when and how to make a report of elder abuse.

This course may be used by providers to demonstrate evidence of workforce training that is consistent with the NSQHS Standards, Standard 1: Clinical governance - Patient safety and quality systems.
