Health in the workplace is important!

This course has been developed to introduce you to the importance of staying healthy while you are at work. Our aim is to provide you with information and tips to help you ensure your workplace and workspaces are hygienic and healthy.

It is worth remembering that many of us spend more of our awake time at work than at home and so we need to be confident that we are in an environment that is clean and as free from harmful germs as possible.

You can use this resource as part of a discussion or development activity with your work colleagues to ensure that you are all aware of the importance of being healthy in the workplace. 

Being healthy at work and being in a healthy workplace is important for everyone!

Germs are present everywhere and there is no way, and no need to try and avoid them completely. However, it is important that we limit the ability of germs to cause illness and disease infecting others and us.

By being aware of and following some simple processes at home and at work we can limit our exposure to infections.

  • The importance of keeping workspaces clean and tidy to avoid them becoming a health hazard
  • Safe food storage at work
  • Washing your hands regularly using the correct technique
  • The benefits of drinking plenty of water during your work day
  • The benefits of doing some simple exercises while at work
  • the importance of proper office ergonomics.
