An introduction to the concepts and practices behind tasting and recommending wine, featuring 72 minutes of learning material (text, photo and graphics). The course offers an easy-to-grasp methodology for understanding a wine's taste, enabling you to better describe wine to guests.
This course is intended for existing staff in the hospitality industry who need to further develop their knowledge and confidence in wine service, and who will be expected to discuss wine with customers.
This course gives a thorough introduction to the different qualities which together make up a wine's character, and how they work together (or not) to create balance. It also teaches how to describe these qualities confidently to guests, and these qualities can be used to recommend wine to guests.
By building a thorough understanding of the concept of taste in wine, this course will empower staff in their role as hospitality service professionals to better meet guest expectation. Enhancing employees’ ability to better serve guests has a flow-on effect throughout the whole business, in terms of positive reviews, social media and word-of-mouth recommendations – which helps increase repeat clientele and maximises revenue.
