Course Overview

A comprehensive guide to the skills, techniques, and operating procedures required for beverage service, featuring 201 minutes of learning material (video, text and photo). The course offers in-depth practical guidance on everything from drink-making to ingredients and mise-en-place, as well as introducing the decision-making processes necessary for creating venue-specific SOPs.

In this course, you will learn:

  • How to meet guest expectations through speed, quality and, most of all, consistency.
  • The ingredient and drink preparation techniques to advance your bartender skills.
  • Good habits around the bar and the responsible service of alcohol.

Target Audience

This course is intended for existing staff in the hospitality industry who are expected to make or serve drinks, and who are ready to analyse why, not just how, operations function in their bar as they do.


Learning Outcomes

This course provides a thorough introduction to: preparing a bar for service, glassware, bar tools, making drinks (and cocktails), cleanliness and hygiene. The course also introduces the decision-making required to create venue-specific SOPs covering the above. Finally, with a particular focus on how consistency helps achieve quality, the course sets out the objectives of good customer service and helps service staff understand their professional responsibilities to both customers and colleagues.

By ensuring a thorough understanding of the skills, techniques and processes necessary to meet customers' beverage service expectations, this course will empower staff to create a successful service environment and a successful service product. It will also help staff take the next step towards management by introducing operational decision-making and venue-specific SOPs.
